resonant bodies was recorded at Siobhan Davies Dance Studios. Acoustic recordings and contact microphone recordings were made whilst dancers were taking part in a class led by Gill Clarke. The contact microphones recorded sounds of the sprung dance floor as it responded to movements, and the sounds of the dancers’ breath and Gill’s voice were also audible. The sounds were then played back, in performance, through speaker cones which were being used to activate a series of drum membranes. Using this set-up I performed an improvised set with composer/percussionist Simon Allen.
